Otomycosis – Fungal Infection of Ear

It is a term that is used for fungal infection that affects the external auditory canal, which is the part of the ear canal leading from the outer ear to the eardrum.

This condition is more common in hot climates and among people who participate in water sports or if water enters the ears while bathing.

Symptoms 

The typical symptoms include pain, itching, and severe discomfort. Itching is more marked than with other forms of ear infections, and discharge is often a prominent feature.

Treatment 

Cleaning may be required, else anti-fungal drops should help. Keeping the ear dry and avoiding scratching it with cotton wool buds in the ear otton wool buds is also essential.
