In spite of all the challenges, instances like these make me, as a super-specialist, deeply grateful for my skills and training. One case that stands out is a child who was profoundly hard of hearing and extremely hyperactive and inattentive due to her condition. Her uncle heard about me, and they came for an opinion. I determined that a cochlear implant was the only way forward. The family accepted the recommendation.

Breaking Barriers: Cochlear Implants Performed in Public and Day-Care Hospitals for the First Time in Karnataka

At that time, cochlear implants were becoming popular but were allowed only in select centers. Determined to prove that this procedure could be performed anywhere, I decided to take a bold step. Against all opposition, I performed the surgery in a public teaching hospital, not only to reduce the cost to the patient but also to demonstrate that this procedure could be done safely in such settings. Subsequently, I went on to perform another implant in a daycare center. These were the very first surgeries of their kind to be undertaken in these locations in Karnataka.

After the procedure, I met with the then Hon. Health Minister to support the program, and the rest is history.

What makes this journey truly rewarding is the heartfelt message I received afterward. It captures the essence of why we do what we do and reaffirms my belief in the power of dedication, appropriate training, and expertise. This is the kind of impact that makes every challenge worthwhile.

Prioritizing Health

Story 2: The Busy Man’s Delay and a Mother’s Suffering
The second story revolves around a busy individual consumed by his professional commitments. During their relentless and tireless pursuit of success, they postponed seeking medical assistance for their own mother. The consequence? An aggressive cancer diagnosis.

Story 3: The Price of Dismissing Complaints
The third narrative features a driven executive entangled in his corporate goals. Amid his rise to the top, he brushed aside his neck swellings as mere inconveniences. Tragically, these “inconveniences” were symptoms of a serious health condition – advanced cancer of the lymph nodes.

Health

In a world where success is often measured in wealth and accomplishments, these stories serve as compelling testimonials that health should reign supreme. The cost of neglecting our well-being and that of our loved ones can far exceed any financial gain or professional accolade. The pursuit of success is not inherently wrong, but it must be balanced with a commitment to self-care and the well-being of those we cherish.
