Inside the Lab: State-of-the-Art Hands-On Training
The practical segments of the workshop were hosted at the Ramaiah Advanced Learning Center, a premier facility specifically tailored for advanced skill development.
The core focus of the curriculum centered on Transtemporal routes—including transcochlear, translabyrinthine, and combined approaches—as well as Middle Fossa approaches. Over the course of three days, participants performed meticulous cochlear implantation surgery and lateral skull base dissections on cadaveric specimens, gaining critical, detailed insights into middle cranial base anatomy.
World-Class Infrastructure & Technology Alignment
To replicate the precision of a high-tier operating theatre, the laboratory featured 6 fully equipped surgical stations. Each station provided participants with premium industry instrumentation:
Imaging: Portable Leica microscopes
High-Speed Otologic Drills: Medtronic and Skitter drill systems
Surgical Hardware: Individualized suction/irrigation systems and dedicated surgical trays
Implant Technology: Specialized implant dummies provided by Implant manfacturers
By fostering these intensive academic and clinical collaborations, we continue to push the boundaries of surgical education, medical technology integration, and patient outcomes.
