Started Cochlear Implant Programs
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to begin the cochlear implant program at Victoria Hospital, one of the largest public hospitals in Bangalore, India. When I started the program, we faced many challenges. However, I was determined to make a difference and help as many people as possible.
During this time, I had the unique honour of meeting with the then Honourable Health Minister, who promised to look into the feasibility of funding implants for those who could not afford them.
Over the next few years, we continued to work hard to raise awareness about cochlear implants and their benefits. We organized workshops and seminars to change a child’s life.
Fast forward a few years, and I am thrilled to say that our efforts have paid off. Cochlear implants are now funded by the government, and around 500 children will be able to receive the surgery, which will enable them to hear and communicate effectively.
It is truly heart-warming to see the positive impact that cochlear implants are having on the lives of children and their families. It is gratifying to see the impact that our work has had on the lives of so many children, and I am excited to continue working towards improving access to hearing healthcare in the future.
