Honored with the Outstanding Alumni Award from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences

Some honors arrive wrapped in paper. This one arrived wrapped in gratitude, memories, and years of purpose — and it left me deeply humbled.

I was recently honored to receive the Outstanding Alumni Award from my alma mater, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences, PSG Hospitals.

This is not just a certificate or a title. It is recognition from the very institution that helped shape who I am as a doctor — the classrooms where I learned, the wards where I trained, and the mentors who believed in a young student long before that student believed in himself.

What makes this Outstanding Alumni recognition even more meaningful is the tradition behind it.

Each year, the PSG & Sons Charities family honors one outstanding alumnus from each of its institutions, including PSG College of Technology, PSG College of Arts and Science, and Medicine.

Three institutions. Three disciplines. One shared legacy of excellence.

To be chosen as the representative from Medicine, among the many accomplished doctors who have come through this institution, is a privilege I carry with immense pride — and an even greater sense of responsibility.

There is a particular kind of honor that only your alma mater can give.

Awards from the wider world acknowledge what you have achieved. But recognition from the place that helped make you who you are feels different.

It takes you back to where the journey began.

To the first classroom.
The first patient.
The first clinical lesson.
The first mentor who made you believe that medicine could become a lifelong calling.

For me, this Outstanding Alumni Award is a reminder that every stage of the journey is connected to where it began.

And this honor does not belong to me alone.

It belongs to my parents, whose sacrifices made this path possible.

It belongs to my teachers, who nurtured potential with patience and wisdom.

It belongs to my family and friends, who have walked beside me through every chapter.

And most of all, it belongs to my patients — my truest teachers — who have trusted me with their most vulnerable moments and taught me the real meaning of medicine.

I remain deeply grateful to PSG Institute of Medical Sciences for this recognition and for the foundation it gave me all those years ago.

Some journeys take you far from where they began.

But you never forget where you started.
